This weekend (Sept 13th 2025),  Aberystwyth Castle will once again open its gates to music, laughter and friendship as Gwyl y Castell returns!

The day begins with an official opening at 10:30am, followed by Iwcadwli setting the musical tone. Choirs for Good, Dawnswyr Seithenyn, and The Rock Project will carry the programme into the early afternoon, blending voices, instruments and dance. Later, Yr Hunanol, Sgarmes, Buddug, and Eden will take to the stage before headline performances from Ynys at 6:45pm and Candelas at 8pm.

The line-up strikes a balance between tradition and modern acts, bringing local choirs and dance groups together with some of Wales’s most acclaimed contemporary acts. Performances will offers a chance to experience the joy of live music while celebrating the iaith Cymraeg and culture. As the sun begins to set, the stage will be alive with sound, uniting the community in harmony.

Beyond the music, families will find plenty more to enjoy around the castle. Younger visitors can try circus skills or bounce the day away, while groups such as Clwb Drama Arad Goch, Peldroed BMO, and MIND Aberystwyth share their work with the community. There will also be Lego workshops, face painting, and hands-on activities for all ages.

Food, drinks and craft stalls will line the grounds, serving everything from Syrian Dinner Project and hog roasts to artisan bakes and local brewery favourites. Visitors can stroll between Sugarcane Bakes, Renegade Kitchen, Becws, and more, tasting flavours from across Ceredigion… and beyond!
