A free community chess event is planned for Neuadd Goffa (Penparcau Village Hall) on 15 November, following an enthusiastic response from local residents.

The university chess society is inviting local people to an afternoon of chess at Neuadd Goffa in Penparcau from 3pm to 6pm. The event is free to attend, with space for around 60 people.

James, a member of the society, said an earlier announcement had attracted an overwhelming amount of interest. The event is open to everyone, including children, although anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult throughout.

Organisers are asking people to register using a short Google Form. They say it should take around one to two minutes to complete.

Tea, biscuits, squash and water will be provided free of charge. Organisers say free parking will be available at Ysgol Llwyn-yr-Eos, with a limited number of additional spaces outside Neuadd Goffa.

James thanked local residents for their interest and offers of help with the preparations. “It’s been great to get this much interest,” he said. For questions about the event, contact Chessinaber@gmail.com. Anyone wishing to attend can sign up here.
