Ceredigion County Council says it’s listening, and this time, it wants to do things differently.
The Council has launched a new public consultation to help rewrite its Engagement and Participation Policy for 2025, and it’s calling on residents to help shape how local government listens, responds, and involves people going forward.
The consultation is open now and runs until Sunday 31st August 2025.
According to the current policy, the Council already engages with the community by running public consultations and surveys, hosting meetings and workshops, collaborating with schools and local groups, sharing updates online, and seeks to include voices that are often overlooked.
But the big question now is: Is that enough? Is it working for you?
This consultation is a chance to speak up — not about services, but about how you’re invited into the conversation in the first place.
It’s easy to feel like speaking out doesn’t change much — especially when the loudest voices are stuck in social media comment threads. But here’s the truth: only feedback through proper channels gets recorded and actioned. If you want your views to carry weight, this consultation is the place to start.
If you live, work, or study in Aberystwyth, your experience matters. This is your opportunity to help shape how your council listens to you. While the consultation is only open for a few weeks, it will shape the council’s action for years to come.
