A community climbing project in Aberystwyth has hit a major setback. Bowldro Buarth, the team behind a planned climbing wall, has lost its bid to buy Buarth Hall
The team says they’re deeply disappointed, as Buarth Hall was at the heart of their vision—even part of their name.
Many local people supported the project, volunteering their time, energy, and ideas. For them, this news will hurt too. But Bowldro Buarth says they aren’t giving up. They still believe Aberystwyth needs a place like this—a place where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together, move their bodies, and build confidence and community.
The team is already looking for other places in town where their dream could still happen. They’re speaking with building owners, funders, and local groups to find a new home. Even though they’ve lost Buarth Hall, their goal is still the same: to create a climbing wall that brings people together and gives something back to the town.
This is a tough moment, but it’s not the end. The people behind Bowldro Buarth are determined to keep going. They say the climb is just getting steeper—but they’re still holding on.
