Last Sunday, Aberystwyth Allotments in Penparcau held an open day as part of the National Garden Scheme. The event ran through the afternoon and welcomed visitors to explore the two allotment sites beside the Rheidol.

The allotments have been in use for over 35 years and now comprise 47 individual plots. These plots feature a diverse array of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Some gardeners also practice companion planting to help manage pests and attract pollinators. The site also includes two wildlife ponds.
Families and gardeners were available to answer questions and share tips about growing food and caring for plants. Visitors could walk along grass and gravel paths, many of which were accessible for wheelchairs.

Refreshments were served during the open day, with proceeds going to support the local 2nd Penparcau Scout Group. Entry was £5 for adults, and free for children. Over 100 people attended the event
